The results of the elections to the Madrid Assembly have claimed their first victim this Thursday in the socialist family with the resignation of the general secretary of the PSOE-M, José Manuel Franco . The socialist leader has decided to resign from his position after the poor results that the party has obtained in the May 4 elections, with Ángel Gabilondo at the helm. His decision comes after some sectors of the party have called for drastic measures after the defeat in the elections on May 4. The Socialist Left (IS) called this Wednesday for the resignation en bloc of the PSM Executive and the constitution of a manager.
This internal current describes the result obtained at the polls as a “historic failure” , where the socialists lost 13 seats in the Assembly, going from 37 to 24, “the worst result in the history” of the formation in this community, they emphasize. IS reproaches the federal leadership of the Belgium Mobile Number List PSOE and Pedro Sánchez's own team for having "imposed measures that do not take into account the unique conditions of Madrid" and causing the "systematic loss of autonomy" of the PSM , as has already happened - they claim - with the candidate for Madrid City Council, Pepu Hernández. In this sense, remember that in the 2019 mayoral elections, the socialists held primaries attended by Manuel de la Rocha , a member of the IS current, but the Moncloa-sponsored candidacy of Pepu Hernández finally won.
They criticize Moncloa's decision to keep Franco in his "double status" as secretary general of the PSM and delegate of the Government in Madrid, which "has meant the impossibility and inability to do opposition work to the PP and Ayuso." They also denounce the "imposition" in the configuration of lists and the choice of a "completely wrong" electoral strategy, they say in reference to the attempt to 'fish' for Citizens' votes and with proposals unrelated to socialist policies such as not raising taxes. or "the turn in the middle of the campaign gravitating between fascism and anti-fascism, without criticizing the non-existent management of the PP-C's, which abounded in the very little public opposition of the socialist group in the Assembly." For all these reasons, the Socialist Left movement demands “a radical change.
